INTERESTING FACT
The forest industry recorded net earnings in excess of $1.5-billion in 2004.
This is up from $340-million in 2003 and is a 430% increase.

TEAM TALKING
The Negotiation Team has left for Vancouver. The Team will be meeting with the Province and forest industry to try and resolve some of the issues. No logging action is expected during this time. Lines will remain soft in hope of satisfactory discussions, and we will keep everyone updated as news is received from down south.

Dinner Dance Auction this Friday, April 22. Guujaaw and Arnie will attend the dinner to report the latest developments. Dinner is from 5-7, auction from 7-9 and dance from 10-2. Dinner and dance are by donation. See the poster for details.

People will be gathering at Honna and Yakoun fires all week. As an added bonus, award winning singer-songwriter Ryan Bresser has arrived on-Island and will be performing at the dance and at both fires this week. He will be at the Honna Line Thursday, 7:30 pm and at the Yakoun Line Saturday, 1:00 pm. Ryan will be joined by Roy Yalte at all venues, come on down and enjoy the great music.

MOVING WOOD
Keith Husband has been discussing the possibility of moving some of the cut wood to the Honna Line as well as getting the boomed wood out of the water. There are about eight loads being moved from the bush so that it can be scaled and billed to Weyerhaeuser and then workers can be paid. There are no barges on the way and this wood will remain on-Island.

WORKING
We would like to thank all small businesses that have followed procedure and applied for permits and are getting their people back to work in the bush. There has been one off-Island application received that was incomplete and we are waiting to hear back from the applicant to complete the process. The approval time for all applications has been 2 business days. Following is the list of 12 businesses who applied and have been approved to date.
