| LETTER FROM SALT SPRING ISLAND, BC, CANADA Dear Premier Campbell We write to urge your government to begin consultations immediately with the Haida Peoples concerning the logging of their territory. We understand that the courts have required thorough and responsible consultation before logging companies can be allowed to take trees down. We support the present resistance being mounted by the Haida, to which we understand they turned as a last resort in the face of government and industry refusal to consult. This must not continue, both for peace in the forests and for the general well-being of the Province. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, Audrey and Robert Wild Salt Spring Island, BC V8K 1B6 |
