FROM SALT SPRING ISLAND, BC CANADA Dear Premier Gordon Campbell and Forestry Minister Mike DeJong: I fully support the Council of the Haida Nation and their actions towards maintaining the responsible use of a major British Columbia resource - the forests, which are a legacy for all of us and our children. No one has the right to wantonly destroy the richly diverse forestry lands, the closely related quality of water serving an abundance of needs, or the livelihood of sustainable logging which should process as much as possible in BC for many more jobs.

FROM HAIDA GWAII The Honourable Minister of Forests~ I am of European descent and I have lived most of my life in the Mediterranean, the U.S. and returned to Canada in 1980 after being raised on the west coast in my youth. I have seen much environmental destruction around the world and I decided to settle here and work here. I will be retiring here; I am here until I die. From my travels, I know that Haida Gwaii is one of the jewels of our planet, and I want it kept that way.
