Celebrating the SGaan Kinghlas – Bowie Seamount Management Plan
On July 10, 2019 the Council of the Haida Nation and Fisheries and Oceans Canada announced the completion of the SGaan Kinghlas-Bowie Seamount Gin Siigee Tl’a Damaan Kinggangs Gin K’aalaagangs Marine Protected Area Management Plan at Tluu Xaadaa Naay Canoe People House in Gaw Tlagee.
The completion of the SGaan Kinghlas-Bowie Seamount Management Plan marks the conclusion of more than ten years of work by the governance partners. It identifies goals and objectives for the management of the protected area, including objectives related to ongoing cooperative governance and adaptive co-management, research to support conservation outcomes, monitoring, and education and outreach.
The Management Plan is now available for download on the Council of the Haida Nation and Fisheries and Oceans Canada websites.

Wow! This is a truly incredible accomplishment. I am very proud of all of the stakeholders involved in making this project complete. Looking forward to watching the ecological benefits expand.
