Hand made & heart felt

Signs tell stories and the signs posted throughout the Islands condemning the proposed Enbridge pipeline project stand with special significance in our communities. They are a reminder to ourselves of the firm position held by most everyone on Haida Gwaii and the fortitude exhibited at the 2012 Joint Review Panel hearings – that hasn’t change and in fact an outcome of those hearings is coming up.

Next week, October 1, 2 and 5, the Haida nation along with 12 other applicants are challenging the legality of Canada’s decision to approve the Enbridge Northern Gateway project and the Joint Review Panel’s report, on which it is based. The case is being heard at the Federal Court of Appeal located at 701 West Georgia St., Vancouver.

In addition to the court action, a solidarity rally has been set for October 1 at 12:30 pm on the corner of West Georgia and Howe St – your presence is requested.
