The CHN Protected Areas Department is looking for a Full-Time Seasonal – Camp Coordinator. We’re a department responsible for conducting and supervising cultural field surveys with relation to Haida Land Values with and for the Haida Nation. We are also responsible for Archaeology, and Forest Ecology as it relates to Haida Culture, the Land Use Objectives Order, and Cultural Feature Identification Standards. The Camp Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, meal preparation and general maintenance of field camps. The Camp Coordinator will work closely with Protected Areas staff to ensure SHN policies and procedures are followed
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Camp Coordinator is responsible for coordinating field camps, assessing equipment and providing general maintenance when required; reviewing and implementing safety procedures for remote locations, maintaining camp cleanliness, washing dishes, managing garbage, splitting firewood, and storing tools and equipment; planning and providing well balanced meals, inclusive of any dietary restrictions or requirements; Assisting with safe transportation of field crew and equipment to and from survey locations; reading field maps and marine charts for planned drop off and pickup locations for field crews and operating a vessel when necessary.
We want to hear from you if you have:
- Certification in FoodSafe Level 1, Chainsaw Safety, Wilderness Remote First Aid, ROC-M, MED-A3, SVOP, Bear Awareness, WHIMIS and OH&S Level 1 (mandatory)
- Knowledge and experience in managing and maintaining a camp with multiple employees
You must be medically and physically fit to assume the responsibilities of the position and a valid BC driver’s license is required.
