The Misty Isles Economic Development Society (MIEDS) leads economic development
initiatives undertaken by the Village of Masset, Village of Port Clements, Village of Queen
Charlotte, and North Coast Regional District Areas D & E.
MIEDS has received funding from the BC Community Economic Recovery Infrastructure
Program (CERIP) to hire an all-island ECommerce Coordinator for a term of 2-years.
Reporting to MIEDS’ Executive Director, the ECommerce Coordinator will work directly with
local artists and businesses to ensure they are leveraging the power of ecommerce to
compliment their existing business structures. This is a 37.5-hour per week, remote-work
position that must be performed from one of the communities on Haida Gwaii. It includes salary
and health benefits. It runs for a term of 2-years.

Required
- Passionate about ecommerce and eager to learn all things digital
- Demonstrated project coordination and reporting skills
- Strong relationship management skills
- Basic understanding of technology, websites, and social media
- Able to manage time effectively, prioritize and independently manage responsibilities
- Proactive self-starter that is comfortable working remotely
Preferred
- A post-secondary degree or equivalent work experience in technology, marketing, or
related fields - Familiarity with the business community on Haida Gwaii
Responsibilities
- Create an inventory of all artists and businesses on Haida Gwaii, their level of
appropriateness for and current engagement with ecommerce - Work directly with local artists and businesses to educate them on the value of
technology and ecommerce - Be a go-to resource for local artists and businesses looking to utilize ecommerce to
further their business goals - Develop and distribute training materials and sessions to artists and businesses on
Haida Gwaii related to ecommerce, leveraging existing resources - Encourage engagement in existing MIEDS programs such as Love Haida Gwaii and Go
Haida Gwaii as appropriate - Work with local partner organizations
- Track connections with and results of interactions
- Report out both successes and challenges
- Identify ways to overcome challenges for local artists and businesses to adopt
ecommerce - Report on expenses related to the project
- Engage with the ecommerce project manager regarding recommendations for creation of
the Haida Gwaii ecommerce marketplace - Support the ecommerce project manager with research and other as needed
assignments - Support efforts to ensure successful marketplace launch by working with the executive
director to identify and compile most effective roll out plans to engage local artists and
businesses
