STEWARDSHIP, MARINE (Haida Fisheries) – Applications are due on noted dates at 4:00 p.m.

 

Fisheries Technician (Skidegate) – Application deadline May 5th, 2022

This is a two month temporary full time position, which may be extended. Requires interest in working in isolated field settings, collecting and recording biological field data, identifying adult and juvenile salmon.  Qualified applicants will have a valid Drivers Licence, able to work overtime, weekends and nights, operates small motors and machinery such as generators, water pumps, outboard motors and small skiffs. Willing to become certified in first aid, VHF radio operation and SVOP.  Work independently and ability to work with the public.

Watchman/Recreational Creel Monitor (Field Camps) Application Deadline May 9th, 2022

This position will operate for approximately 3.5 months (until September), but may be extended to the fall.  Applicants must be Haida and willing to work in isolated field camps (2 weeks on, 1 week off); Applicants should be interested in working in the field, and have experience operating small vessels safely, certification or willing to train for SVOP, First Aid, VHF Radio Operations.  Being courteous and a team player and taking direction well are all important.

Fish Technician/Data Entry Clerk (Old Massett) – Application deadline May 5th, 2022

Approximately 3 – 4 month position. The Tech receives, sorts, records and distributes incoming correspondence, issues CHN permits (right to access, razor clam designation cards, etc.) as per policy.  They will answer the phone and direct calls or record messages in a timely manner.  Qualified applicants can use Microsoft Office, and have a willingness to periodically work in the field.  Ideally, they will have completed grade twelve (or equivalent), and have two years experience working with computers.

CASUALS – ongoing applications

The Fisheries Program has a need for casual labour (less than two weeks work), for such projects as Copper River fence Deena River smolt tagging program, razor clam transects, crab creel interviews, food fish distribution and other fishery activities.
