Asset Manager

$35.50 – 36.94 per hour based on experience, Full-time 35-40 hrs. per week

The Asset Manager reports to the Director of Governance. The asset manager establishes and
maintains the nation's assets and handles projects related to asset development as assigned.
The Asset Manager communicates information about assets and ensures that all necessary
steps are taken to protect them while defending the nation's interests in developing new capital
assets, including contractor oversight, tracking deliverables and costs, and reporting as


  • Work collaboratively with SHN staff to develop an asset-tracking system
  • Ensure that maintenance and repair schedules are included in the tracking system and that
    responsible departments or teams have the necessary reports to implement solutions.
  • Oversee Governance vehicles, ensuring they are safe and function in current weather
  • Provide oversight for all buildings held by SHN, ensuring that repairs and renovations are
    acquired and done cost-effectively, efficiently, and with quality.
  • Draft budgets and monitor budget compliance.
  • Establish a system for reporting asset needs and repairs so staff can make requests and
    ensure timely responses.
  • Maintain timely written and verbal reports as requested
    Other related duties as assigned


  • Excellent project management skills, including, planning, execution and reporting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, task-oriented with solid attention to
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including working collaboratively with individuals and groups
    in a multidisciplinary setting;
  • Proficient with computers, data analysis and management;
  • Proven attention to detail and respect for confidentiality
  • Some post-secondary training is an asset or an equivalent combination of education,
    training and or experience.
  • Keen interest in working with Haida or other First Nations in governance.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s license
