2.0 DESCRIPTION
The Human Resource (HR) Director will be responsible for overseeing and managing human resource, recruitment, retention, and support functions within the Council of the Haida Nation. This role is pivotal in supporting the Council of the Haida Nation by managing HR matters, employee relations and working with senior staff to support performance management, training and development. The HR Director will also assist in maintaining CHN’s positive and productive work environment. This position requires the ability to anticipate needs, think critically and offer solutions to problems with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. This position requires a deep commitment to Haida values and Haida sovereignty and a willingness to advance these aims in all the work performed.

4.0 SKILLS, ABILITIES & EXPERIENCE
- • Interest in and knowledge of Haida laws, values, traditions and Haida governance
- • Keen interest and knowledge in Haida politics, vision, mandate and programs
- • Excellent written, verbal, communication and research skills, including attention to detail
- • Demonstrated capacity to build relationships, work effectively in a team, and adapt creatively to changing situations
- • Demonstrated interest in Human Resources management
- • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively as part of a team
- • Office experience, with an ability to take initiative and be a self-starter
- • Preference for special training or certification in human resources or equivalent combination of education, skills and experience.
