COVID-19: TRAVEL ADVISORY FOR HAIDA GWAII

After careful consideration, the Council of the Haida Nation, Old Massett Village Council and Skidegate Band Council are recommending that Island citizens avoid unnecessary travel off-Island at this time. This precautionary decision was made with advice from the First Nations Health Authority and is in the best interest and wellness of Island communities.

Elders, young children and people with compromised immune systems are the most vulnerable to Coronavirus (COVID-19). With limited emergency resources available, any exposure could have significant consequences on Haida Gwaii. Preparedness and prevention are the most effective ways to limit exposure and potential impacts in our Island communities.

For those returning to Haida Gwaii after traveling, wash your hands thoroughly and often. When sneezing or coughing, cover your mouth and nose with your arm. If you believe you have symptoms of COVID-19, isolate yourself immediately and phone the provincial public health authority at 811.

Resources and updates will be provided as available and posted on CHN’s:

Good for you! I believe this is a very intelligent proactive measure. Thank-you!
