HAIDA NATION INVESTIGATING FLAG DESECRATION AT SK’AAWS  

On a routine patrol this week, Council of the Haida Nation Fisheries Guardians were alarmed to find a Haida Nation flag vandalized and hanging upside down at Sk’aaws in Needan Gawee Naden Harbour. The flag was immediately removed and the incident was reported.  

Earlier this summer, Haida citizens occupied Sk’aaws and have been actively fishing and harvesting in this area. Annually, CHN crews monitor this region and sport fishing activity in the summer months.  

A report has been filed with authorities and the CHN is seeking any information that citizens or the public might have regarding this disrespectful act.
