Watchmen

CHN Watchmen conduct creel surveys and collect data on recreational fishing activities. Interviews are carried out at the docks of major lodges, at the floats in Gaw Massett, Daajing Giids and Chaahluu Kaahli Rennell Sound. This data provides monthly estimates of recreational catch and release rates.

Watchmen also work at Haida village sites within Gwaii Haanas from spring to autumn. They protect sensitive areas of high cultural significance and act as ambassadors between nations by educating visitors about Haida heritage. CHN’s Watchmen program seasonally employs up to nine people at five cultural heritage sites.
