Indigenous Youth Internship Program

West Coast Region Ecosystems Section is applying to host 1-2 Indigenous Youth Internship Program (IYIP) interns starting in Sept 2026 to support their work on species and ecosystems at risk and wildlife habitat on Vancouver Island and Haida Gwaii.

About the role

When you take on the role as an intern, with the award-winning Indigenous Youth Internship Program (IYIP), the experience can provide you with an opportunity to contribute and improve relationship-building between Indigenous communities/organizations and the Provincial Government. You will join over 400 alumni that have completed the program since 2007. Interns leave with valuable experience, an alumni network, and professional development that supports you through your career. The IYIP team has three staff members, a Team Lead, Program Coordinator and Program Administrator. All staff members are Indigenous. We encourage youth to grow their careers within the BC Public Service or Indigenous organizations.
