Call for Proposed Amendments to the Constitution of the Haida Nation
The Council of the Haida Nation is accepting proposed amendments to the Constitution of the Haida Nation that will be brought forward to the House of Assembly in HlGaagilda Skidegate on October 12–16, 2026 (more details to follow).
All proposed amendments will be published and advertised two months prior to voting at the House of Assembly, as required by the Constitution.
Citizens can obtain a copy of the current Constitution of the Haida Nation at the CHN offices in G̲aw Tlagée Old Massett and HlG̲aagilda, or on the Haida Nation website, https://www.haidanation.ca/about/haida-constitution
Ways to Submit:
In person to the CHN Office in G̲aw Tlagée or HlG̲aagilda; or by email to policy@haidanation.com
Deadline for Submission: August 10, 2026, 4:30pm

HOW TO PROPOSE A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT CHECKLIST
☐ Draft the proposed amendment on Constitutional Amendment Form.
☐ Include your name and contact information.
☐ Ensure the proposed amendments are written exactly as you would like it to appear in the constitution if accepted.
☐ Include the original wording and section numbers from the Constitution that you are proposing your amendments to replace or modify.
NOTE: Once submitted, proposed Constitutional amendments can not be altered.
