PUBLIC NOTICE: Wildfire in Needan G̲awée

On August 20, 2026, there was a reported fire out in Needan Gawée Naden Harbour near the Queen Charlotte Lodge. The fire was ½ an acre. Crews have been tasked and the fire has not grown since. 16 people responded and are still monitoring the situation and keeping it contained and is now considered out. The mop up, saturation and Danger Tree Assessment will be taken place and be completed this afternoon.

The cause of this fire is still under investigation, but is suspected to have started by a campfire.

Just a reminder to ensure all campfires are not left unattended and when you put them out to ensure it is cold to the touch.
