On this day of National Truth and Reconciliation it is important that we stand together against any forms of hate and racism as we confront the history of Canada together.
The Haida Nation stands against all forms of hate and stands with the Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc against any demonstrations of white supremacy and white nationalist ideology.
The path towards reconciliation must be grounded in acknowledging the truth of Residential Schools, the harms caused to Indigenous Peoples across Canada, and the ongoing impacts that continue to be felt today.
Our way is to promote peaceful co-existence with other people and governments while taking care of Haida Gwaii.
We encourage everyone to take this day as an opportunity to learn about the history of Residential Schools and the founding history of Canada. Understanding the truth of our shared history is an important part of reconciling the past to help make a stronger future for all.
