Haida Fisheries:
Watchmen/Recreational Creel Monitor
– 1 Position
Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, Haida Watchmen conduct creel surveys, monitor recreational fishing activities and collect data on recreational fishing activities. Duties include setting up camp, keeping the cabin and camp tidy and operational, interviewing fishing lodge guests, collecting fish bio samples, conducting boat counts, taking down the camp at the end of the season, and assisting in other projects as needed.

Lands, HNDR, and Protected Areas:
CFI Crew Leader – 3 Positions
Conduct cultural field surveys concerning Haida land values, archaeology, and forest ecology related to Haida culture, LUOO, and CFI standards, and operate a vessel when necessary. Supervise field crew, guide survey planning, facilitate good productivity, and Ensure SHN safety policies and OH&S safety requirements are followed.

CFI Crew Trainee – 9 positions
Under the direction of the CFI Crew lead, conducting cultural field surveys and learned how to do transects, recording and report writing.

Protected Areas Camp Coordinator – 3 Positions
Under the direction of the CFI Crew lead, the Coordinator is to provide general maintenance when required, keep camp clean, wash dishes, and plan and deliver well-balanced meals, including any dietary restrictions or requirements. Ensure Safe transportation of field crew and equipment to and from survey locations.

Summer Students – 4 positions
Participating in cultural field surveys with experienced CFI Surveyors as they relate to Haida land values, archaeology, and forest ecology as they relate to Haida culture. Learn how to do transects, record and report writing—learn how to navigate the forest using a compass, iPad and map use, safety training, and staff meetings.

Deck Hand Protected Areas – 1 Position
To achieve and maintain the highest level of customer service and satisfaction through efficient, helpful and friendly service to passengers at all times.

To assist and support the Master and uphold the safety and smooth running of the vessel at each level.

Watchmen:
Haida Gwaii Watchmen program (Gwaii Haanas)
The Watchmen program is key to Gwaii Haanas and is vital to the protection of Village sites. Working as a team, Watchmen safeguard the natural and cultural heritage of each site, and maintain the camps
themselves. Watchmen stay in camp for one to two months. Preference will be given to those with certifications: Wilderness First Aid, Radio Operators, SVOP, Marine Basic First Aid, Chainsaw Ops Training, Bear Awareness and Food safe.
